MORE INFORMATION

The 9th CFATF Conference on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism will be held in Trinidad and Tobago at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain on Monday December 2nd, and Tuesday December 3rd, 2013.

The theme of this conference is “Building on past successes at technical compliance – preparing to demonstrate effectiveness”. This conference is expected to be the catalyst for the change that the financial sector must endure as Trinidad and Tobago prepares for the inevitable fourth evaluation of its AML/CFT infrastructure and is critical to ensuring a good result from that evaluation.

This conference will bring together Industry experts, regulators, supervisors and FATF trained assessors to begin the discussion on what Trinidad and Tobago can expect from the fourth evaluation and the preparation necessary in order to avoid the throes of international scrutiny for non-compliance. The new areas of focus will be:

  • The New FATF Standards for assessing countries and the concept of ‘effectiveness’
  • Risk assessment as the key to guiding industry response to AML/CFT

Some other areas of focus will be:

  • New Payment Systems
  • Regional Human Trafficking
  • The US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)
